Ibanez introduced the PM-200 in 2013, made as an upgraded signature model for jazz legend and longtime Ibanez player Pat Metheny, a legendary name in the world of jazz fusion, having made a career playing with names such as Jaco Pastorius, Joni Mitchell, Bill Frisell, John Scofield, David Bowie, and many many more across multiple genres.
This guitar is an incredible way to get a professional level archtop Jazz guitar without spending the money required for a vintage piece. This guitar is incredibly playable, and thought it has a modern feeling, can cover a large spectrum of tones depending on the player's technique. The "silent 58" pickup is punchy and loud, but can be tamed with both the volume and the sensitive tone control.
The body is maple, most likely laminate, and the neck is one piece of mahogany with a gorgeous ebony fretboard with great looking split block inlays. The original Gotoh bridge is well intonated, and overall the guitar, while a little heavy, has a sleek and modern feel to it.
This guitar is in great condition, although it features a badly plugged previous output jack that has been relocated to the original location. This guitar is great for professionals and home players alike, and will be certain to cover all the sonic territory a player could want. Serial #F1406694 comes with the original hardshell case.
