The guitar is made with a hot hide glue & dovetail construction technique, a traditional method that offers superior tonal quality and a long-lasting build. The top of the guitar and the braces are made from Adirondack spruce, a highly prized tonewood known for its clear, loud sound and excellent sustain. David meticulously tap tests the bracing on his tops as he shaves them down.
The back and sides of the guitar are crafted from Pau Ferro, a dense, resonant wood that imparts a warm, rich tone. Pau Ferro is also used for the headstock and the bound fretboard, further enhancing the instrument's harmonic richness. The neck is made from Sapele (African Mahogany), a sustainable alternative to Mahogany known for its excellent stability and resonance.
The guitar's hardware is equally impressive. The bridge is made from Indian Rosewood, a dense, hard wood that provides excellent sound transfer. The non-slotted Ebony pins, unbleached bone nut and saddle, and the Golden Age 3-on-a-plate brass open gear tuners all contribute to the instrument's tuning stability and playability.
