This is an oddity and possibly a fun project. This was presented to us as a Fender California Series Stratocaster, however that is only partially the truth. In reality, it is a California Series neck from a 1997 model put on a standard MIM body. I cannot verify the rest of the parts, but I'm going to assume anything attached to the body is from the donor body except the pickups, which I cannot identify but line up with what I've seen from early Highway One series pickups. I am not positive on this though so please don't take my word for it. I just can't see the original owner not taking the nicer pickups from the California series, and given that the pickguard is not the original to the body, I think this would line up.
The neck has been broken and repaired as is evident and the repair is holding well, even if it doesn't look the best. The guitar is set up to the best of our ability, though the nut needs to be cut a little lower to be set optimally. It is still very easy to get around however and the medium jumbo frets have plenty of life left.
The body was very aggressively painted black, as evidenced by the painting over of the original identifying tags.
Very lightweight at 7 lbs 5 oz.
