The real deal from the early 60’s.
I collected burns guitars and bass every since I started considering vintage guitars some 20 years ago. This is the first and only left handed Sonic Bass I ever seen.
This swinging sixties bass was manufactured during the height of Burns guitars.
It is an absolute joy to play and sounds as good as it looks! The twin Tri-Sonic pickups deliver those quintessential sixties tones with ease and have the thump to keep the low in check.
This one had its tuners changed. The knobs aren’t original either (one is missing). Both pickups work perfectly and sound great. As it is often the case with Burns, I have a hard time understanding what each knob does besides one which is meant to control volume. A skilled electrician would need to take a look to give its electronics a revamp. Action is a bit high to my liking but the bass is definitely playable as is. It is currently set up with new flatwound strings to give it the sound we all love.
Comes with its original hardshell case (in poor condition)
Features:
- 29.5" Scale Length
- 2x Tri-Sonic Pickups
- Cherry Maple Fingerboard.
