About This Listing

This classic guitar is being sold by Robert G. Whitlock, a South Florida local jazz, blues and bluegrass player and teacher to many great guitarists including a young Jaco Pastorious in the early 70s. This prized Guild Artist award guitar has a serial number of JA 100065. Bob purchased this guitar in 1981 according to close family friends. The instrument has a 17” wide Venetian style single cut-away hollow body, carved spruce top, highly figured maple back and sides, f-holes, sunburst finish, elevated multi-ply black plastic pick guard with a volume control knob, removable height adjustable ebony bridge, engraved harp style trapeze tailpiece, two piece fingered maple neck, with dark wood center strip and adjustable truss rod, mother-of-pearl and abalone peghead inlays with “Guild” logo and model identification. This Guild also has Grover Imperial tuners with Art-Deco style metal buttons, 20 -fret ebony fingerboard with Pearl block inlays with abalone “V” insert, multi-ply white & black edge binding on peghead, finger board, f-holes and body top back and side, gold plated metal hardware and floating DeArmond pickup. This Guild Artist Award is a wonderful investment grade collector and a true players guitar.
