The Shop’s Take
Here is a beautiful 1965 Ludwig No. 905 Jazz Combo 3x13 snare drum in Oyster Black Pearl, serial #126941. The unusually shallow 3" shell, six-lug configuration, Keystone badge, and classic Oyster Black Pearl finish make this a distinctive piece of mid-1960s Ludwig production. The drum presents exceptionally well for its age, and the hardware appears original throughout. For the Ludwig collector or player looking for something genuinely different, this is a particularly appealing vintage snare.

Full Description
This 1965 Ludwig No. 905 Jazz Combo is a 3x13 six-lug snare drum finished in Oyster Black Pearl.
The shell features Ludwig’s period mahogany/poplar/mahogany construction and carries a Keystone badge with serial #126941, consistent with 1965 production.
The defining feature of the Jazz Combo is its unusually shallow 3" depth. Combined with the 13" diameter and six-lug layout, it gives the drum a compact profile that sets it apart from more familiar Ludwig models such as the Jazz Festival and Pioneer.
The Oyster Black Pearl wrap presents very well, retaining strong contrast and character throughout. The shell, badge, hoops, and hardware also remain remarkably clean for their age, with only light cosmetic wear visible.
Based on our inspection, the hardware appears to be original to the drum. As with any vintage instrument of this age, we encourage buyers to review the photographs carefully as part of the condition assessment.
This would be a particularly interesting addition to a vintage Ludwig collection, a natural match for an Oyster Black Pearl kit, or simply a great choice for someone drawn to the unusual proportions and character of Ludwig’s less-common 1960s snare designs.

Condition
Very Good to Excellent vintage condition.
