About This Listing

Up for sale is a BEAUTIFUL and highly sought after 1980 Gibson Les Paul Heritage Series Standard-80 in VG+ condition and perfect working order. We just gave this a pro set up with a set of 10-46 gauge strings so it plays amazingly with a straight neck, low action and accurate intonation. The original pair of Tim Shaw “PAF” reissue humbucking pickups sound absolutely KILLER, are highly sought after and are considered by most to be the closest Gibson has ever gotten to the originals. It’s also very resonant and balanced acoustically, which is a hallmark of a well made high end electric guitar.

Cosmetically, this instrument is insanely clean and has been well kept over the years. There’s only two minor cosmetic issues on the top worth mentioning. The first, is a small wear spot in the finish on the top just west of the stop tailpiece that has some light scratching around it. Secondly, there’s a ding on the binding over by the knobs. Besides that, there’s some tiny dings scattered around (mostly on the bottom and sides), fret binding checking, some general swirling and light scratching in the clear coat from handling and cleaning, some of which was hard to capture in the pics. It should be noted that the finish retains all of its original luster and the flame top looks better in person than it does in the pics. The original frets look great still showing no real discernible wear to speak of. The style of fret used here by Gibson is best described as wide and somewhat flat. It’s not quite “fretless wonder” territory as they have a bit more height than those 70’s frets but it’s close. See pics for condition and please excuse any reflection.

These Heritage Series Standard-80 Les Paul’s are killer guitars and represent Gibson’s first real attempt at doing a 1959 reissue. And because of this, they’re highly sought after by both collectors and players. And you’d be hard pressed to find a nicer example. To the best of our knowledge, this instrument is 100% original and has untouched solder joints. Comes with the original Gibson hard shell case (which is in Good Plus condition) and the case candy that pictured. The bottom of the case is missing one of the three little feet. The guitar weighs 9lbs 10.3oz. The nut width is 1.675”. The neck thickness is .870” at the 1st fret and .975” at the 12th fret. The neck pickup reads 7.67K and the bridge 732K..
