For Sale: Vintage 1971 Dan Armstrong 342 Sliding Pickup Bass Guitar
Discover a rare find in the world of bass guitars. This is an original 1971 Dan Armstrong 342 sliding pickup bass guitar with a unique backstory.
This instrument initially arrived as an unfinished 'factory seconds' model, which adds a layer of intrigue to its history. The reason it never got finished became evident - it features a body routed for a long-scale sliding rail/bridge placement but has a short-scale neck.
It was subsequently sympathetically restored, plugging the channel and the incorrect bridge holes. It now boasts a Schaller 460 roller bridge to match the Schaller tuners, ensuring top-notch intonation and tuning stability. The original bridge location points are concealed beneath 'D' and 'A' engraved plates, giving it a distinctive touch.
This 1971 Dan Armstrong 342 is not just a collector's item; it's meant to be played and enjoyed. Only 333 instruments were ever made in this series, with basses being even rarer than the guitars, especially the early shape ones. Its lovely original lacquer checking adds to its vintage character, and it remains a stable and reliable instrument.
Whether you're a collector or a passionate musician, this vintage 1971 Dan Armstrong 342 bass guitar is a piece of music history worth owning.
Don't miss your chance to own a unique piece of bass guitar history today!
