We cannot date this guitar exactly. They were made in Japan from 1976 thru 1980. We are calling it a 1976 just because we like that year!!

Guyatone has a rich history as a guitar manufacture. Founded in 1933, they were the first Japanese company to make electric guitars. Early on they were best known for their Hawiian style instruments, patterned largely after Rickenbackers. In 1955 they introduced their first solid-body electric guitar. The Guyatone company still exists, and makes a broad line of effects pedals. Guyatone is known to have made many other brands of guitars such as Apollo, Custom Kraft, Hi Tone, Ibanez, Kent, Kingston, Noble, Lafayette and many others.

The Guya' Marroly LG-880 model was made from 1976-1980. It is rumored that the prototype was developed as a signature model for British blues rocker Rory Gallagher. Apparently he did play varous Guyatones when he wasn't peeling paint off his beloved Stratocaster. We were unable to find any pictures of him with a Guyatone. While many of Guyatone's offerings from that era were pretty adventurous in their design with wild shapes and dizzying arrays of pickups and buttons, the Marroly is a conservative design with a set neck, two pickups, each with its own volume control and a single tone. The pickups have preforated aluminum "Gold Foil", “Speed Bump” covers which look very cool. Underneath are huge single coils of wire wrapped around massive alnico magnets. Kind of like a P-90 but with more clarity. This Marroly is in remarkable shape.

Our Tech gave it a new bone nut and leveled/recrowned the frets, so it plays like a dream, and those pickups just sound awesome! Whisper low action that practically plays itself! Very few dings or scratches. The guitar is just beautiful. Check out those super deluxe Grover Tuners. Original on these High End Guitars! See pic 11.

This Guyatone has a 25 1/2 inch scale neck and the new bone nut measures 1 11/16 inches. The guitar weighs in at 9 lbs 3 oz. Its a solid guitar. Nice round C Profile to the neck that feels great in the hand. I love playing this cool guitar!

The case it came in was shot. We didn't want to ship this cool guitar in a substandard case so we are replacing the vintage case with the shown slightly used TKL Hard Shell case. A much better case to ship and travel with.

Sold as-is no returns as its used. Thanks for respecting that.
