Overview

Matt McPherson built several unique high-quality flat top acoustic guitars prototypes in the early 1980s, and over time these designs were refined and released under the incorporated McPherson moniker officially in 2001, though specimens built prior to that are still on the market.

The McPherson JL-40 DR featured a unique three-soundhole design at the edges of a Spruce top. It had Rosewood back and sides with a Rosewood fingerboard on a Mahogany neck. It included a single humbucker in the neck position with volume and tone controls on the side of the guitar.
