Vintage 1935 Martin 0-18K Koa Acoustic Guitar!
Koa Natural Finish! Made In USA!
This is really Cool. You are looking at a Vintage 1935 Martin 0-18K Koa Acoustic Guitar. A rare Martin 0 – 18 K from 1935. This all koa model is a rare piece of the coveted “Pre War” instruments by Martin.
The Martin “Pre War” guitars, from the time before the 2nd World War, are very popular in collectors circles. These guitars combine the best materials, a sound-optimized construction and careful craftsmanship to form unique dream instruments. The number of guitars built by Martin was very low at that time, so that very few “Pre War” Martins are for sale today.
The koa construction offers an extra portion of clarity and was only used for a limited number of instruments.
This 0 – 18 sounds really very, very, very good. The sound has developed nicely and is perfectly balanced, with present mids, crystal clear highs and booming basses (amazing what comes out of this small body). The small 0 – body gives the sound an additional round nuance and a great projection.
It is a lightweight guitar and responds very nice to the lightest touch – its really a joy to play.
The neck is straight, the frets are good and the action is low.
Some 0-18K guitars from this period were made for Hawaiian playing with a flat fingerboard and raised nut and saddle, but this guitar was factory made for Spanish playing with a rounded fingerboard and normal nut and saddle.
Serial Number: #60620
Nut Width: 1 7/8"
Our luthier did a Neck Reset and a complete setup. Brand new strings were installed. Gig ready on Arrival!
Complete Package with Original Hard Shell Case Included!
Due to CITES Treaty for Endangered Wood (Mahogany, Rosewood) We no longer ship out of the USA.
Cosmetics: Very Good Condition. Keep in mind that this is a 88 year old Vintage Guitar that has been played. The only real issue is that someone carved the letters of the strings into the body just below the bridge. (See picture #10). There are some small dings and scratches on both sides of the body. Neck, Fingerboard and Headstock in great shape. Case has a few scuffs, scratches and stains. All latches work. Overall, a really nice solid used guitar. Dripping with "Mojo" Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story.
