A Masterbilt Epiphone

The Epiphone Masterbilt DR-400MCE Acoustic-electric 6-string guitar is a modern instrument with a distinctly vintage vibe; big, balanced tone; and exceptional playability. The DR-400MCE is unusual in many respects, including the fact that it's built with all solid wood — from its Sitka spruce bracing to its solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides to the one-piece mahogany neck. Plus, Epiphone has loaded this cutaway dreadnought with premium electronics — Shadow Germany's NanoFlex bridge pickup and an eSonic HD preamp with soundhole-mounted controls.

All solid wood yields superior tone and resonance

Solid wood is used throughout the Epiphone DR-400MCE, giving you big, balanced sound with a superb resonance. Guitars in this price range often don't feature solid wood backs and sides, but with this DR-400MCE, Epiphone has taken a different approach: they built the DR-400MCE with a solid mahogany body and one-piece mahogany neck, a Solid Sitka spruce top, and a glued-in, dovetailed neck joint. The result? A high-value instrument with robust lows, balanced mids, and bell-like, shimmering highs. We've all heard the expression, "they don't build 'em like they used to." Well, Epiphone does!

Stage-ready, with advanced onboard electronics

With Epiphone's Masterbilt DR-400MCE acoustic-electric guitar, you're always ready to take the stage. Epiphone has fitted this fine guitar with Shadow's ultra-flexible NanoFlex bridge pickup and the eSonic HD preamp. This combination gives you natural-sounding amplification and outstanding ease-of-use, and it picks up not only the saddle vibrations but those of the body as well! The preamp controls are inconspicuously placed, too, just inside the bass edge of the soundhole. To control your sound, just turn the Master Volume or the Master EQ with a center detent for personalized, precise acoustics. Even the 9V battery that powers the NanoFlex-HD under-saddle pickup is low-profile, positioned right beside the nickel 1/4" output jack.
