Very Rare Mosrite Combo Mark X Model 301 Bass.
Short Scale - 30 1/4" (30.25")
Late 60s. There is evidence (most notably the V and T on the knobs) to suggest this was pre 1967, but it could be anything up until 1969.
Seems all original - tuners, pickups, bridge, saddle, e.t.c. Plays well. Pickups are the hottest I've ever heard on a passive bass - amazing sound. Frets are worn but still have a bit of life left in them, neck and truss rod seem fine.
Late 60s so wear is visible. Various bumps and scratches and a few cracks in the laquer (possibly in the body too), although they don't look very deep. Body still feels firm and produces a great tone both acoustic and plugged in. Intonation might need slight work but seems fine to me.
"D.J." carved into the highest fret where serial number is, two of the machine heads, and carved into neck plate at back along with a number. Also seems to be some writing inside the body that says, 'SEc'. No idea what it means, likely previous owner.
Will need a little work to get it into top shape - e string rattles a bit but nothing that makes it unplayable as far as I can tell.
Brilliant bass, probably needs a setup but looking and sounding beautiful, and a VERY rare instrument on top of that.
