A rare opportunity to acquire a guitar from one of the world's greatest guitar builders, John Slobod.
Luthier John Slobod began his career in 1993 at the Timeless Instruments guitar building intensive in Moosejaw, Canada. When John left Timeless, he went to work for Dana Bourgeois at Pantheon Guitars in Lewiston, Maine. At Pantheon, he hand carved many necks, voiced hundreds of tops, and did the binding work and final voicing on almost 4000 guitars. John left Bourgeois to work with Julius Borges and Eric Schoenberg in 1998. He also began his own line of vintage inspired instruments using traditional materials and construction methods under the name Circa Guitars.
This early build from Circa Guitars (No 055) is a perfect example of John's craftmanship. A 00-42 built in true early pre-war Martin style with all the usual 42 style adornments as you would expect. Extensive use of top grade abalone on the top and round the fingerboard extension, snowflake inlays on the ebony fingerboard. Top grade Adirondack Spruce top and the most gorgeous, dark brazilian rosewood back and sides. This is a truly exceptional guitar that has been played regularly at home by me and, at all other times stored safely in its humidity controlled Armitage case. It is in beautiful condition with the only slight flaw, a small back crack which has been expertly cleated before I bought the guitar 5 years ago. This has been beautifully repaired and in no way affects the playability or sound/appearance of the guitar.
Please note, I will not ship this guitar except totally insured and at the buyers cost and responsibility!
