Action at the 12th fret is 4 mm on then bass and 3 mm on the treble. Manuel Contreras began in the workshop of Jose Ramirez III and left to start his own shop in 1963, making several models. This 2a version was a less expensive version of his top signed 1a model using Indian instead of Brazilian rosewood, and having simpler decoration and no signature on the label. otherwise, it was the same model as his best signed 1a instrument. This guitar is very Spanish sounding, sweet, with liquid shimmering trebles, and deep bass. Clear and colorful, it has a very beautiful singing quality which is lyrical and powerful at the same time. There is considerable playing wear visible especially on the top, which in no way detracts from the musical utility of the instrument. $2250 with hard case.
