Tucker Barrett 5-string Electric Violin / Viola Hybrid, (C, G, D, A, E strings): such a beauty.
Great electronics (Barbera bridge, each string on the bridge has its own sensor).

One owner, lightly played, with only a few scratches in the wood on the back near where the cord plugs into the instrument and some light finger oil on the neck. Excellent condition.

The main body is made from Hawaiian Koa wood, the neck is likely maple, and the body has a cutout fingerboard shape, custom-made for me in the late 90s/early 20s. Black matte interior, lovely craftsmanship. It's a strong-bodied instrument, the neck is straight (detailed pictures), and everything is tight. It's less fragile than a hollow body by far.

I originally got this model because I was playing in a loud amplified band and wanted to cut through the same range as the guitar without getting the crazy feedback that happens when you add an electric bridge to a hollow body, (and because of my romance with those lower ranges that the C string will add to the violin’s range). It's a great style for adding guitar pedals, effects, looping, etc, it's a lot of fun. It did the job (especially with a Marshall amp), but I stopped playing in that style and pivoted instrumentally not too long afterward. I thought I'd come back to it, but haven't, so it's looking for its new owner to give it a new life.

It’s been stored in its case in temperature-controlled spaces indoors with care, but not played for many years now. I just restringed it with D’Addario strings. It takes a little extra care to string it so that the strings are aligned on the tuning pegs (5 strings tune up a little bit differently than a 4 string, but you string and tune them low to high), and you get used to it. It’s a strong visual piece, maybe for a studio musician or touring band violinist. It would be beautiful as a stand-alone solo instrument. The scroll on TF Barrett's is his signature hook/claw shape, it has a rock and roll/goth/metal vibe to his hook/scroll style. It really is a lovely instrument.

TF Barrett instruments are hard to come by these days. TF Barrett retired from making new instruments, but this one was considered one of the best of his evolution. It has such a pretty wood grain and finish. The paneled/hollow construction makes it pretty light for solid wood (weights 1 lb, 12.6 oz including the wolf shoulder pad). Includes a brown square hard case with red liner with a few light cosmetic scuffs on the fabric (shown in pictures).

Electronics: Barbera bridge pickups (so much richer than a Fishman fyi)
Strings: newly stringed D’Addario strings.
Accessories: Includes case (I’ll include the Wolf shoulder pad, though the plastic on one of the prongs has cracked - normal given the age of the shoulder pad). The shoulder pad fits the instrument well, and I would put the shoulder pad on the instrument before plugging in the cord for the easiest alignment.

I'm adding $125 in shipping for UPS for FedEx and insurance for the lower US 48, but I'm open to worldwide shipping to be customized based on location.

I'm including an old youtube link of Dave DeMonki playing a TF Barrett. Nice looping and range, shows it's potential. U2 With or Without You. His channel has a few on his TF Barrett. Dave DeMonki U2 Seaside 2008 is really nice soloing and range as well with the use of guitar effects. Lovely.
