Johnson AXL Strat copy c. 1990s - Silver sparkle

Very cool c. 1980s/90s Johnson AXL Strat copy. Great entry level electric. Cosmetically almost mint. Very sharp silver metal-flake finish that has a bit of a mint-green tint to it. Pickguard was pretty crappy (discolored and warping), so I thought this guitar might look nice sporting a black pearl replacement. Well, I thunk right. Looks stunning. I’ve actually contemplated using this body and guard as the basis for a “Fender” custom axe, but I just have too many projects to ever get to that… Everything else is original, and the electronics and EMG pups are in perfect shape. Plays, feels, and sounds great – not at all like any sort of cheapie. As is rather typical, you can get convincing Fenderish tones from the ceramic pups by keeping them away from the strings and backing off on the volume a bit.
