About This Listing

Here we have an early example from the Fender Custom Shop, the increasingly rare rosewood telecaster!

Although there is no COA or warranty present and neither the neck pocket or the neck itself was stamped or otherwise marked with a manufacturing date, from the pot codes we can conclude that the guitar was manufactured around 1990-91.

Loosely based on 1969 specifications, this guitar has a C shaped, 1 piece rosewood neck with a maple strip and a semi-hollow "pancake" body consisting of a thin slab of maple sandwiched between two pieces of rosewood.

All hardware and electronics appear to be original and functioning perfectly, with a ceramic tone capacitor and a single high-pass (treble-bleed) capacitor present.

We have leveled and crowned the frets and given it our expert in-house set up, and the result is a guitar that plays and sounds superb, with all the requisite snap of a telecaster but ever so slightly darker and warmer overall thanks to the rosewood construction.

Cosmetically, There are fine scratches and small dents here and there, with a chip out of the finish and a couple of marks on the headstock as shown in the photos. Additionally, the hardware exhibits very mild corrosion here and there but overall the guitar presents very well considering its over 30 years old.

The original hardcase is included.

We always try to accurately convey the condition of our products, however please bear in mind that feel, performance and even condition are subjective. In light of this, please examine the photos carefully!

When examining a truss rod on a straight neck, we check that it can turn up to about 45 degrees in both directions. When we say the truss rod can be adjusted, we mean it can be adjusted up to 45 degrees. Anything beyond that risks damaging the instrument.
