1968 Marshall JTM50 Bluesbreaker Combo

for sale a very rare marshall 1968 2x12 bluesbreaker combo.

90% of my stuff sells privately. call number below to purchase. this amp is essentially sold, just waiting on final wire. sale includes a written statement from 2 legendary amp techs, both independently confirming the same thing. statements which might contradict what some people seem to want to believe.

this is a transitional bluesbreaker, it's a 1968 amp in a 1967 box. all factory. it's a larger box than the 1966 clapton bluesbreaker, which i also have here. but otherwise the same style box & grill. it's been said there was only maybe 5 of these combos produced in 1968. so this is not only a bluesbreaker, I’ve been told transitional products are very common with marshall between years, and changes were made often. it’s a first year transformer.

1968 is the holy grail marshall year, a one-year-only circuit, first year of the "marshall sound", when things became a bit gnarlier. AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Metallica, on & on & on. solid state rectifier. speakers in great shape, no issues. sounds like a million bucks. the only thing on earth that sounds better than a bluesbreaker is two bluesbreakers together.

this clean dark green/blue levant cabinet is of course part of the secret sauce. one of the most beautiful colors i've ever seen. put it in the light and you'll see the green/blue. nothing i'm aware of sounds this good. i've been told separately by 3 independent parties, experts at all things marshall.

the bluesbreaker combo provides the best, most usable, 3D, bone chilling, out of this world live guitar sound that i'm aware of. i find it more usable than the tweed bassman, less mushy. it's the best amp and best cabinet together in one package. these are 25w greenback speakers with original marshall labels.

this bluesbreaker was built in a very small english warehouse. from what i understand, the levant tolex likely installed by jim marshall. this amp's been thoroughly inspected by 3 independent marshall experts. it came from the top of the collector food chain. the two bias caps changed by fred taccone in 2022. that's all heavily photographed and audio recorded, some video. detailed photos of the internals will be sent upon request to serious buyers only. you can see the before and after here of the bias caps.
