Here is a nice example of a mid 1970’s Stratocaster copy made in Japan at the Matsumoku factory. These were considered by many to be better quality than the Fender’s put out by CBS at the same time.
The body had quite a few nicks, dings, but mostly checking to the original clear finish.
I thought about refinishing it natural again, but went a different direction and I’m glad I did. This thing really came to life. The grain on the guitar is amazingly beautiful. I left it open pored and stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut. I finished it with polyurethane, instead of lacquer. The last few I have done in lacquer have been so easy to chip, like the finish gets too hard.
The neck is 3 piece maple, with the trussrod adjuster at the heel. The trussrod moves freely.
I left the neck alone, although it does have 2 checks. See pics for these. The frets have been dressed and polished. Plenty of life left in them.
The tuners have been replaced with period correct Grover USA reversible tuners. These are in excellent condition, and have quite a bit of value if you chose to replace them.
The electronics are all original except for the neck pickup.
The original pickups are Maxon. The full size pots and 3 way switch are original.
I did replace the knobs, and the rear cavity cover.
The tremolo bridge is in fair condition with some wear, scratches, and discoloration. It has bent steel saddles and a removable high mass block. It’s not a cast piece like a lot of the Japanese made ones.
No tremolo arm, although I believe it takes a 5 mm thread arm.
Comes with a near new tweed case with plush interior, and lock with keys.
Being that this is a true 49 year old vintage guitar, I am selling it as is with no warranty.
The guitar will be professionally packaged and shipped with insurance.
The guitar will need to be tuned and possibly setup upon receiving. I do not give any type of refund for this as it is normal.
