About This Listing

NEW) We are fortunate twice a year to receive a special delivery from our favorite man in Montana, Kevin Kopp!  It's no secret that Mr. Kopp is one of the rock star builders in the Gibson tradition, having cut his teeth in the Gibson Custom Shop alongside other greats like John Walker and Ren Ferguson.  Kopp instruments always seem to possess the soul of the best vintage Gibsons, without any of the inconsistencies that haunt the factory models.  To own a Kopp guitar is to always have inspiration on your side.

We thought it was time to go big or go home, so here we have a one of a kind K-200 Classic, a formidable 17" super jumbo model, with torrefied Sitka top, lightweight Indian rosewood back and sides and Kevin's ultra-thin "Closet Relic" finish, traditional lacquer that is applied sparingly and then lightly distressed.  Guitars with this finish have an uncanny responsiveness, and the look and feel is like a good old pair of shoes.  This guitar also has the very handsome "Classic" appointments package, which includes binding on the body, neck and peghead, an additional purfling line on the top, bound sound hole and marquetry back strip.  Kevin has also given us Art Deco inspired flourishes on the peghead and pick guard.

For specs, it's a 1 3/4" nut width with 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle, long 26" scale length.  The neck is maple with a comfortable "C" profile, not vintage-full but not dainty, either.  The fingerboard is ebony with pearl block inlays.  The bridge is rosewood with bone pins.  The tuners are relic'd Waverly.  Includes TKL hard case.

This guitar puts out a TON of sound!  A 200-style guitar is sometimes described as having a "loud whisper" with a tempered bass and a "bigness" that doesn't always follow up with the right projection and responsiveness.  This guitar is not one of those guitars, it's got the guts and it delivers the goods.  It's a beast that not every player will be able to tame.

As always, thrilled with what is coming out of the Kopp shop, we wish we could get even more... but it still feels like Christmas morning twice a year when those big boxes arrive from Montana, and we won't complain about that!
