Orsi Bb Soprano Sarrusophone SN R0819 GORGEOUS

Here is a splendid Orsi soprano sarrusophone. 

The sarrusophone was invented by the French company Gautrot in the 19th century as a double-reed instrument for outdoor band use. The most common member of the sarrusophone family is the contrabass which can substitute for contrabassoon in a pinch. The soprano instrument however is almost unheard of. Playing in the same register as the oboe, but pitched in Bb, these instruments have a unique timbre that could be described as a cross between an oboe and a saxophone. This instrument was manufactured by the Orsi company, and my guess is that it is a relatively recent (1950s or so) production. This instrument is in terrific condition - the original lacquer shows no wear and it has never been damaged. Pads and action have been shop-regulated and this sarrusophone is ready to play!
