About This Listing

Up for sale, a 1983 B.C. Rich RAEG-2 NJ series vintage thinline acoustic electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. An exceedingly rare B.C. Rich model, the RAEG-2 features X-braced construction with a "highest quality” spruce top (according to the original catalog description), maple back and sides, and ebony fingerboard and bridge. The lower bout width is 16" wide, and the body measures a comfortable and slender 3" deep. Clear and resonant, the tone is indicative of the more slender body and spruce/maple tonewood pairing, offering a certain brightness and immediacy, but also a smooth warmth as chords sustain. Plugged in, the ceramic magnet undersaddle pickup has a clear, cutting sound. The guitar weighs 5lbs 3oz, dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with easy-playing action and bronze 12-54 strings.

The mahogany neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with round, inviting shoulders and effortless playability, measuring .810" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard has pearloid diamond inlay, and the slender fretwire only exhibits light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the nut measures 1 11/16” in width. On the headstock, the “R”-stamped tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should, and the silver foil serial number sticker is present on the back of the headstock.

The body features a unique diamond-shaped soundhole with multi-ply marquetry, echoing the fretboard inlay. The ebony bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, and the compensated saddle has good height. Volume and center-detent Tone controls govern the ceramic magnet undersaddle pickup, capped by knurled black knobs

This guitar is crack-free and well-kept, with cosmetic wear on the gloss Black finish limited to an area of light buckle worming on the back central to the waist, some light finish cloudiness on the treble-side lower bout perimeter, a bit of expected scuffing along the strum path, and a handful of faint scratches and microscopic dings on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss.

The original hardshell case is included.
