Hello, I'm selling a Gibson Sonex 180 Deluxe, made in the USA in 1982. The guitar has been refinished and is in excellent condition. The body and neck have been refinished.

The guitar has just been serviced by a luthier, where: - the original Gibson pickup set was installed: GIBSON 496R & 500T + new potentiometers

- the guitar is fully set up – ready to play, with a low action and new strings.

The tuners have been replaced with Grover Kluson tuners. The frets are beautiful. The guitar plays and looks great; it's a professional instrument, a true Gibson, with an '80s sound that will satisfy both professional musicians and beginners.

The Gibson Sonex-180 guitar draws on the Les Paul's styling, but combines it with an innovative design characterized by "brilliant harmonic reproduction and excellent sustain."

Like the Marauder and S-1, Gibson Sonex guitars were built with a bolt-on neck rather than the traditional Gibson neck. Instead of a solid wood body, the Sonex series utilized Multi-phonic construction, which provides highly desirable tonal characteristics. It consisted of an inner solid wood core sandwiched between slices of a wood composite called Resonwood; "a product that will be considered a first for years to come" and which "delighted guitarists" with its "extraordinary sustain and harmonic reproduction."

GIBSON 496R & 500T! A set of humbuckers with ceramic magnets and high output:

- rhythm and treble pickups

- dual black 4-core pickups

- three ceramic magnets

- DC resistance: 8.4kΩ (496R) and 15.2kΩ (500T)

This design allows the pickups to place a balanced emphasis on both high and low frequencies, making them particularly suitable for powerful and aggressive rock sounds. The sound is powerful and assertive, providing clear definition across the entire frequency spectrum. These pickups are ideal for genres ranging from hard rock to heavy metal, where a dominant, punchy sound is essential. The 496R is designed for the neck position and offers a warm, rich tone, while the 500T in the bridge position delivers an aggressive and cutting sound. Together, they provide tonal versatility that supports both rhythm and lead playing with equal force.

The guitar looks great, sounds amazing. I'm including a hard case with the guitar, which is a bit old but protects the guitar properly. Can be tested in the Rzeszów area, and can be shipped!
