If you’ve clicked on this listing, you're likely already aware of Creston Lea of Burlington, VT, one of the premiere builders of boutique electric axes in the USA.
This is a guitar Creston built for me in 2021 using a body he had originally built for himself a few years prior. He only rarely builds S-Style bodies and this one for himself was possibly his first.
Creston wired this guitar uniquely. A silver toggle button in what is usually the top knob position pivots the player back and forth between serial and parallel output when the five-way pick-up selector is in either the second or fourth position. When engaged, this affords the guitar some very punchy extra tones that pack a real wallop when paired with overdrive or fuzz. It’s very cool. The pickups are Lollar.
The neck feels and plays like a classic Creston neck. Comfortable Medium C with a rosewood fingerboard. It has JUST been set up by Alexandria, VA luthier, Luis Fernandez de Cordoba (Roberto Venn, Gary Brawer) and plays magnificently.
Light cosmetic scratches on the body give it a slightly distressed look.
I’m very reluctantly putting this one up for sale for only one reason: at just over eight pounds it is too heavy for me now; I deal with a chronic shoulder issue and so the guitar deserves a new home; I can’t physically play it as much anymore. Still, I will be very sad to see it go.
Softshell gig bag.
