About This Listing

1959/1961 Old Kraftsman Prairie Ramblers Cowboy Guitar

The finish became dark brown in 1959 and pickguards appear in 1962. making this example in that range.

While most mid-century Cowboy stencil guitars are considered wall hangers, this old craftsman does not fit that category. I would have to rate the finish 8.5 on a ten scale. Above that the action is impeccable, it's a player. I believe it would be a great performer with the proper pickup. Also great around the campfire with your cowboy hat on.

This ALL original, Old Craftsman guitar is an impressive structurally sound example that has a minor ding and a little wear on the painted purfling as the photos show. It sports a Kay style tailpiece, wooden bridge w/ inset brass saddle, original tuners, and a 24 1/2 inch scale neck with a 1 11/16 inch nut. There are no cracks on the front or the back.

Several condition flaws are documented in the photos none affect the presentation or performance quality of this mid-century Cowboy collector. There is no separation of top or back photos show missing painted purfling. The small body scratches and dents, most do not penetrate the paint finish.

The prize here is the playability of this high performance wall hanger!! Give it to a begining student, keep it handy for practice or... It's only a pickup away from some Chickin' Pickin'.
