The Broadside started life as a relatively unknown DOD design from the mid-70s. After building a copy of the original and being blown away, I wanted to bring this old design back with modern construction and voicing options.
The Broadside isn’t a completely clean boost. There’s a light compression and just a hint of saturation that adds a nice color to your tone without being overpowering. Perfectly clean is boring anyways.
The Broadside will also take 18 volts for maximum headroom and even more volume. It is extremely loud at 9 volts, even more so at 18, and capable of pushing almost anything into overloaded clipping.
The switch, Weight, controls the bass levels of the signal. The lowest toggle setting is full range for basses and baritones. The middle position removes a little bass for the classic FET sparkle. All the way up is similar to a classic treble boost, but with a little more punch.
CONTROLS
P - Power: Master Volume
W - Weight: Bass frequency control. DOWN for heavy. UP for bright.
