This is the earliest example of an original 1st year production Precision Bass & Bassman Amp we have ever encountered, the P Bass has its original see-thru Blonde finish covering its “slab” body dated 11/17/51 & she certainly has been enjoyed for most of its life, its fat maple neck is dated 6/57 & appears to have been replaced under warranty by Fender as many early necks had quality issues, it has a ton of flame going on & is commensurate with the condition of the body that shows the same amount of wear most likely on this bass for the last 60 years, its Black Bakelite pickgard is in 1 piece & is commensurate to the rest of its body parts showing lots of wear, yet has the coolest vibe going on, its original single coil pickup sounds bright & funky, its tuning machines are the earliest type w/shorter rounded string shafts, its headstock logo still looks great, its original “domed” knobs are clean & its bridge still has its Bakelite Saddles & sports the serial # of 0395, its pot codes have no visible dates but certainly date to 1951, she’s all original & the rarest piece of Fender Bass history you will find, the cool matching Tweed Bassman amp has the early Wheat colored Tweed covering that’s quite clean & all original, its loaded with 1x15” Jensen speaker dated the 42nd week of 1951, it has the earliest type power supply mounted to the bottom chassis with 2 huge transformers sitting on top along with its 5 tube array having a pair of huge 6L6 tubes, having sat for nearly 5 decades, we have gone thru it completely & made it very user friendly, it still is wearing its original Tube Chart, 1 of the coolest & early production original amps of all time & hardly ever available without mods, she goes perfectly with this 1951 P Bass, what a chance to buy the rarest & most complete 1951 Precision Bass & matching Bassman amp set of all time, they are both excellent overall & work perfectly to use or display, certainly worth the price of admission, the P Bass comes with a nice 60’s hard case.
