About This Listing

Circa 1980s USA Multivox 1st AVE solid state practice/small gig amp. Seems to be a couple watts more than the typical bedroom amp, and might be enough for a house-party type gig. Has low and high inputs, reverb (non-spring of course), and a distortion function (switch on back). Has nice punchy well-defined tone. Not as warm as a tube unit, but still very musical. Reverb is OK, but obviously not as lush as a spring unit. The distortion output has no level control, and simply follows the setting of the pre-gain volume. Actually sounds pretty decent, and not at all harsh or clipped. This little amp would probably shine with the right effects, as it has quite a bit of headroom. Thick fuzz for metal, or maybe shimmery chorus/phase effects would sound great. A little bit of scratchiness in the pots, but not troublesome. The outer covering of the cord had a couple of splits, but the interior wires are 100% intact. Nice little amp for harder modern styles at a fraction of the price of a tube unit. Shipping is estimate to West Coast; will be less if closer to OH.
