From Master Builder Nick Page, The Maybach Motone Masterbuilt Paisley Precision Bass recreates the 1951 Fender precision bass in a re-imagined paisley landscape with a neck so impossibly comfortable it could only be a custom shop model.

Built for the 2023 NAMM show as a one of a kind piece, this bass screams vintage, with a Frailin P51 Pickup, CTS Pots, Paper-in-Oil capacitors, and vintage wiring. Creating all the vintage vibes, without any of the drawbacks, Gotoh Tuners and Bridge round out the package for the most gig worthy, custom experience you could hope for. Nick Page has done a fantastic Paisley top on this Red Alder body. at only 8.5 lbs, this bass is as comfortable as it is cool. The roasted flame maple neck is silky smooth, and has a vintage C shape, very close to our original 1951, but just a bit thinner.

When compared back to back to our 1951 Fender Precision, the sound is VERY VERY close. In that year, Fender used wood for the Bridge, and they were not easily intonated, whereas the Gotoh of course can be perfectly dialed in. There is perhaps a touch more brightness in the Maybach, but very subtle. It could also just be the newer strings, which is very likely. All in all, this Maybach is to die for if you want the best Germany has to offer, combined with the coolest vintage recreation, that is still 100% gigable.
