About This Listing

If you know about this guitar then you know just how cool this is.

Firstly, there has been two modification and one repair. I regret to inform you that in 2022, after attempting to sell this guitar for the first time, there was a headstock snap in shipment. The classic Gibson smiley face snap on the rear of the headstock. I have had this guitar extensively and painstakingly repaired at Third Coast Guitars in Chicago, IL. This included a new mahogany headstock install with the best scarf joint I've ever seen (used to work for a local luthier in his guitar shop), faceplate transfer, serial number transfer and further cosmetic/paint touchup to match it's original condition. In theory this headstock is now stronger than it was before thanks to the scarf joint.

The tuners have been also replaced with similar nickel Grovers per the previous owner. The original neck tone pot also crapped out on me and was replaced. The original is included. Other than that it is completely original and is the best playing hollowbody I've ever had my hands on.

I used to work at a local boutique guitar shop and have a great relationship with them, they are the same shop who recommended me Third Coast and I will be professionally ship and insuring this guitar through them and Fedex. I also regularly play and maintain my guitars.

This guitar has never been gigged but has definitely been played. I would put it in EXCELLENT condition. This guitar has been babied and played rarely other than in my home studio. Noticeably there is some pick wear over the bass side near the strings on the body by the previous owner, some buckle rash on the back, as well as minor dings and are shown as photographed.

Back to the good stuff. This guitar is made to match John Lennon's casino circa 1965. That means a completely stripped natural finish (with a light nitro sealer) that I personally think is the more striking and unique offering of the Limited Lennon Casinos - not to mention a mirror image of Lennon's real guitar as it stands today.

The body is double-bound 5-layer maple/birch/maple/birch/maple and is absolutely stunning and made to mid-60's Kalamazoo, Michigan (Original Gibson Plant) specs! The top contour bracing is also spruce and built to the original relief spacing and depth. The one piece mahogany neck is cozy and familiar. The neck profile is one of the most comfortable profiles I've played on any semi-hollow or hollowbody guitar period. It is elliptical in shape but not flat in any way or too wide and has a tight string feel due to the nut string spacing/low action. It really is just right. The rosewood is beautiful and in great shape. The binding has aged into a nice cream color now. The headstock also features the original, larger shape with a 17 degree pitch just like John's. Gibson Factory dog-ear P-90s give you the quintessential Beatles tone. The included knobs also include the replaced Black knob and the old style black washer over the toggle switch. Stamped with John's original serial number - this is as close as you will get to playing John's Casino.

The original case with shroud is included with the original case candy I received. I will also include the John Lennon "rooftop" Ace reissue strap I bought to go along with the guitar. Notably the key for the case lock has been missing from the previous owner, as well as the other gold volume knob. The case lock code is currently set to "000" so I recommend if you plan on changing the combination you keep the new code somewhere very safe and memorable.

Again this guitar will be shipped and insured and is being sold AS-IS. Open to offers but please be respectful. I'm aware of it's worth given the repair. This is a monster of a player and a highly collectible piece.
