About This Listing

Here is a rare 1960 Guild X-500. This 17" single cutaway archtop is a high end model comparable to the Gibson L-5CES. but with laminated woods. There are multiple bindings on the body, neck and headstock and all the bindings are solid. The German made Kolb tuners are all functional and work well. The Franz pickups are powerful and sound great. To complete the look is the distinctive harp tailpiece. This guitar is in very good condition, but there are a couple of issues. There are a couple of top cracks, and new heel cap has been added. A bit of glue seeped into the finish leaving a mark. There have been no other modifications. This is a fun guitar to play! The neck is very comfortable to play with a full feeling neck. Low action makes this a joy to play. It comes with it's original brown case. All in all, it is a beautiful guitar that plays as good as it looks.

Product Overview
The Guild X-500 (Stuart model) was an electric archtop with Spruce top and curly Maple back and sides. It featured two humbuckers and a lyre tailpiece.

Not to be confused with the Stuart X-550 (later renamed the X-500 B in 1960), which was the same model with a natural finish.
