Re-listing my 1965 Epiphone ft-45n Cortez. Changed my mind about selling this one twice now as I’ve had it for a long time and I love this guitar, but I just don’t play it much these days and I need the money now. I’ve owned it probably 20 years or so, but it’s been sitting in its case for the last 6-7 years. I have it listed in fair condition, i Think it plays well (this is, of course, subjective), and sounds good, but as you can see from the pictures it needs some TLC from someone who knows what they’re doing.
There are multiple cracks in the soundboard, one on the lower-side near were the neck meets the body, one between the sound hole and the bridge, and one on the lower bought of the soundboard. These were there when I bought the guitar, have structurally sound repairs (done prior to my ownership) and do not cause any issues at all. There is another crack (and some smaller cracks in the same area) in the soundboard spanning from the bridge to the binding. This crack developed during my ownership. The crack/s appears to have stabilized as it hasn’t seemed to worsen, but it should be addressed at some point. There is copious wear all over this guitar, dents, dings, scratches, etc. (I’ve played the hell out of this thing) and it could probably use a cleaning, but other than the listed issues I am not aware of any other issues with this guitar that would need a repair. However, I want to make it known I am not a luthier and there very well could be more issues that need to be addressed, I do not know. This Is not a comprehensive diagnostic in anyway. I want to be very clear to whomever buys this that there are issues with this guitar that should be addressed at some point if she is going to live on into the future. As mentioned above, it plays and sounds good, stays in tune just fine, and with a little TLC it should be a great guitar for someone. It is definitely “Player’s grade” and this is %100 an “as-is” sale, no returns.I don’t want to dissuade anyone from buying this guitar, it has some issues as you can see. I’m also happy to do a video call or take detailed videos of the guitar on request. I want whomever purchases this to know what they are getting and be happy with what they recieve, I just want to be clear that I am not a luthier and I am not qualified to give comprehensive diagnostics on a guitar.
It excels for fingerpicking, etc, very mellow sounding, great with a pick as well. All super premium wood, honduran mahogany, Brazilian rosewood, etc., super comfortable, easy playing neck. I believe it is all original with the exception of the bridge pins and the nut/bridge (professionally cut and replaced by lyrical lumber in Orlando, FL). It does have onboard pickup (installed before my time), I have no idea what it is, and it will come with the case I purchased for it years ago (little rough, but does what it’s supposed to do). As mentioned above, Im happy to provide more pictures/videos if there is something you want a better look at and please ask questions if you have them. Thanks for looking.
