This violin was produced in Germany in 1904 by Louis Lowendall, according to the sticker visible through the f-holes. It is full-sized (4/4) and in great shape. The top face has a visible repair from a crack endured in its life previous to me owning it. It was repaired, seems solid, and the luthier saw no reason to be concerned about its condition. The asking price is based on assessments done by two Philadelphia luthiers. This would be a great instrument for a student who is ready to own! It has lovely sound and the wear and tear is to be expected of an antique instrument.
It was recently checked over and updated by Sarah Peck Violins in Philadelphia. Work completed:
- General check over
- Installed new set of Thomastik Alphayue strings
- Lubricated pegs
- Straighten bridge
- Clean, polish, retouch
I am including a bow (nothing fancy but does the job), a shoulder rest, and dampit humidifier. You will have to buy a case yourself.
