Custom Valley Arts Telecaster M series. Have searched for years for a replacement for this, in case of possibly selling, like now. But it seems there’s no other like it, at least visibly. So it’s probably another of Mike McGuire’s one off customs, all luthiers do them. It’s the most beautiful of the 47 Teles which have passed through here that’s for sure, including other VA models and boutique builds. Cherry red burst on a thick flame maple top with mahogany back, gorgeous. Body has soft edges all round and a blessed tele tummy cutaway. The neck is the only one I’ve ever seen which exhibits plain, flamed and bird’s eye maple all on the same neck. Bird’s eye is the predominant one with a big burst of flame at the headstock end, and a plain desert in the middle, stunning, an artwork I have spent many moments getting lost in. The Bartolini pickups need no fanfare, awesome. The sound of this guitar unplugged is also very impressive, like a real musical instrument. The dark ebony fretboard is beautifully sculpted after the 24th fret and the MOP inlays add a subtle beauty to the board. Little sign of wear and frets in great shape. Smooth comfortable neck carve.
