Gibson / 1950 L-5 Custom Factory Modification

Introducing the Gibson L-5—a legendary guitar that has captured the hearts of Jazz musicians since its debut in 1923.

Originally priced higher than any other acoustic guitar, even surpassing Martin’s Style-45, the L-5 quickly became Gibson’s flagship model until the release of the Super400. Its excellence as an archtop guitar led other manufacturers to create their own L-5-inspired instruments.

This particular instrument is a 1950 L-5 with a 17-inch non-cutaway body that has been expertly refinished in black at the Gibson factory. The neck has been converted to a “Super400” neck, complemented by a tailpiece upgrade to match the elegance of a Les Paul Custom “Black Beauty.” The meticulous binding work further enhances its grandeur.

In terms of sound, the L-5 surpasses other archtop guitars with its rich, crisp, and substantial tone. Its exceptional string balance allows for nuanced expression when playing tension notes or slashed chords. Whether strumming four-beat rhythms or adding rhythmic complexity, this guitar fulfills a vital role as a rhythm instrument.

Discover the timeless allure of the Gibson L-5.

[CONDITION]

The neck and all wooden parts of this guitar have been thoroughly inspected and adjusted by our skilled acoustic guitar craftsmen.

Rest assured, every aspect is in excellent condition.

The neck has been precisely adjusted to maintain straightness, eliminating any buzzing or fretting issues. The action at the 12th fret is set at approximately 2mm on the 6th string side and 1.6mm on the 1st string side, providing optimal playability.

While there is some evidence of crack repair on the body sides, this vintage beauty remains free from any significant damage that would compromise its sound or aesthetics. We assure you a satisfying experience both in terms of tone and visual appeal.
