This PRS 408 is finished in Dark Grey with a deep blue on the outer border of the guitar. It features a artist top gorgeous flame maple from the wood library. It has rich and fluid flame patterns that play with the light. It also has little tan lines running through the flame. The fretboard on this 408 are made from Brazilian Rosewood, which might be the most prized tone wood in the world. You can expect days of sustain and a responsive, lively feel under your playing hand. Only a few 408s were made with Brazilian Rosewood, so this guitar is truly unique. It also has a neck made from korina which makes this guitar very light. The back is made from mahogany and the binding on the body is a light tan flame maple as well. This also feature the beautiful abalone birds that are just gorgeous!
The electronics on this guitar were crafted to PRS's exacting tone standards. The neck pickup is a bit slimmer than a standard humbucker, and the bridge pickup is a bit fatter. The result is an increased tonal spectrum in the bridge with a tighter low in the neck end and more articulate highs throughout. A mini-toggle coil tap for each of these unique pickups provides sparkling, vocal like tone. PRS Phase III locking tuners and the PRS tremolo bridge ensure tuning stability no matter what. Hybrid hardware gives the guitar a bold and unique look. This one is truly a rare bird.
This guitar has only two blemishes that keep it from being mint. One is a finish blemish on the arm side of the guitar that is about 4 millimeters in diameter. It is not down to the wood but the top of the lacquer has been chipped off. The other blemish is that one of the saddles has the gold rubbed off to the silver.
Lastly this guitar comes with a beautiful paisley and leather case that is just adding to the artist series vibe of this baby! I bought this guitar new for 4500 in 2014 and have never gigged with it. It has just lived on a stand in my house with some occasional play time so get yourself a nice deal on an amazing guitar.
