Dobro Duolion Hula Girl L9 1991

The "Original Musical Instrument" Company, or OMI as it became known for short was responsible for manufacturing some of finest resonator guitars for quite some time. The Dobro brand had changed hands a few times, maybe most notably being sold to Gibson in 1993. Some of the finer instruments, according to collectors and players, were during the pre Gibson era - something subject to particular examples. All to say, we are very pleased with this Dobro branded Duolion dating to 1991. Featuring a nice laminate Maple construction, a single cone, slot peg head, and a classic Hawaiian themed "Hula Girl" stencil painting on the back.

This example comes to us in very good shape from its previous owner. It has a nice robust sound very suitable for fingerstyle blues with its round neck profile, but functioning just as well for Hawaiian type playing. Good volume with nice bass response, this is a great player.

The body and hardware are all in great shape cosmetically with very little wear overall, less some surface level pick scratches present. The neck and rosewood fingerboard are nice and clean with a simple dot inlay. The frets, fingerboard and profile are in great shape with no dead spots, and only typical light wear in the cowboy chord region. 24.5" scale length, and a wide 1 7/8" nut width. Open gear tuners function just as they should, and this instrument plays with medium low action suitable for standard playing or slide, measuring about 6/64" in height at the twelfth fret with minor forward relief (a functional truss rod is adjustable at the peg head).
