These amazing guitars were made by master luthier Ryoji Matsuoka for Aria in the early 1970’s. Every single Matsuoka dreadnaught I have had is spectacular and this is no exception. Known primarily for his classical style guitars he did build a handful of dreadnoughts in the 1970’s and you should snag one if you can. I have one in my private collection and it’s one of my go-to guitars.

This guitar features a solid spruce top with japanese laminate rosewood back and sides. Japanese laminate consists of solid layers of tone wood (normally two layers) bonded with natural resins for solid wood sound but better durability and crack resistance. It’s built in the style of a Martin D-35 with a 3 piece back. It has the signature oversized fret dots also and Grover tuners. The truss rod works as it should. It plays great like it is and you could even bring the saddle up higher if you prefer, depending on how hard you like to strum.
