Hello all,
Here is a 1988 "Pre-Historic" 1959 Flametop Reissue. These were Gibson's first real attempts at a 1959 reissue, before there was a Gibson Custom Shop, and before the Historic Series. The 1988 and 1989 Prehistorics are generally considered the most desirable of this series because the serial numbers start with an 8 or 9, like vintage Sunbursts.
This has a GORGEOUS flamed maple top with a "Heritage Dark Sunburst" finish, as evidenced by the HDSB notation in the pickup cavity. This guitar has been played a little, and there are a few small scratches and dings. But as you can see, this is still an absolutely beautiful guitar. The original Bill Lawrence "Circuitbacks" were long gone when I got this. It's currently loaded with a set of Seymour Duncans with aged nickel covers, a SH-14 in the bridge, and a SH-1 in the neck. This Flametop looks, plays, and sounds FANTASTIC! Includes the original Gibson hardshell case. She weighs 8.8 lbs on my digital bathroom scale.
I've seen these Pre-Historic 1959 Reissues sell from $2500 to a little over $5000. In order to make a quick sale, I'm asking only $3495 for this very special guitar. If you have any questions, please let me know.
