1925 Gibson Granada Mastertone Tenor Banjo. We are selling this banjo for the family who has owned it since the 1920‘s. We’ve included a picture of the of the original owner in this listing. In order to provide the most accurate information for this listing we asked Joe Spann from Gruhn Guitars in Nashville help evaluate this instrument from the pictures shown here. Apparently this banjo started it’s life with a 16 fret short scale neck. Gibson factory records indicate that a number of the banjos from this batch were later returned to the factory to be re-necked as standard tenor banjos. The current standard-scale 19-fret tenor neck with mother-of-pearl “Mastertone” engraved block inlaid in the fingerboard, Ludwig planetary-style tuners, and Gibson “Tonemaster” armrest activated mute system, are all consistent with a factory re-build late in the year 1928. Outside of this factory rebuild it looks like this banjo is unmolested as far as any mods or changes. Overall this instrument is in wonderful shape for it’s age. The frets have some some wear from use over the years but are not an issue as far as playability. Neck with Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard is in fine shape and truss-rod is in working condition. The finish is in good shape while showing lacquer checking, surface scratches, compression marks, edge-chipping and small areas of play wear. Beautiful curly Maple tenor neck with mother-of-pearl script-style “Gibson” logo and “hearts & flowers” peghead inlay.

Includes the original hardshell case with replaced handle and adjustment tools.
