Last Chance or we just keep it for the shop.
RE-LISTED with updates and corrections.

Here we have an Epiphone Electar tube amplifier combo in very good condition for being about 90 years old. The amp found its way back home to our shop as I sold it about 4 years ago to a customer who unfortunately had to pay some bills The amp is still in the same very good condition that it was back then.

My amp tech of 35 plus years went through it completely again, having to only clean the pot, jacks, and on off switch. While he was inside the amp, we noticed the filter caps and a few small capacitors had been changed. Someone had added some capacitors to the 3 input stages, so each input jack is a little louder instead of them all being the same. The rest of the chassis and Rola 12" speaker being fully original. Those black based tubes look to be possibly original. The amp still works great, and sounds really good with some nice raw TONE and crunch especially turned up all the way.

We think if some new tubes were installed, it probably would beef up the gain and sound. We have decided to just leave it alone.

Cosmetically a bit rough from all these years and Lord knows what it has seen and been through. Structurally still quite solid with bumps, bruises, and a few serious cracks in the veneer on the sides that have slight movement but really don't affect anything. There are also a few small chips of the woods surface missing. All can be seen in the pictures.

The electronics of Epiphone's 1935–1947 amplifiers were designed and manufactured by a young NYC-based tech wizard: Nathan "Nat" Daniel (1912–1994) – the man who later founded the Danelectro company. Nat Daniel tells his great story in the invaluable Fisch/Fred book, p143ff.

3 summers ago, we sold 35 pieces to the movie set of Bill & Teds Most Excellent Adventure 'Face the Music'! with Keanu Reeves.
Lot's of guitars, amplifiers, rack gear, they wanted a lot of stuff with LOTS of KNOBS!!

We did another movie bit last fall in a film called 'Miracle in Motor City'
starring Smokey Robinson. Our shop had a 15 minute scene in that movie
on the Lifetime channel last November 28th, and it ran through Xmas day.
It might be showing again this holiday season?!
