The Guitar: Fender D’Aquisto Standard - Natural (blonde). Famed luthier Jimmy D’Aquisto collaborated with Fender (Japan) in the mid-1980s on the design and production of this limited run instrument. Serial number on rear of headstock indicates this guitar was manufactured between 1985 - 1986. Key design features include: archtop hollow body; laminated maple top with single point f-holes; maple back and sides; Venetian-style single cutaway; 24 ¾” scale length; three-piece maple neck with classic Fender C profile; adjustable truss rod; 20-fret Indian rosewood fingerboard with white plastic dot inlays; medium jumbo frets; center dip headstock with “Fender” logo plus engraved floral motif logo “Designed by D’Aquisto”; sealed Fender tuners with metal buttons; elevated Indian rosewood pickguard; removable height-adjustable Indian rosewood bridge; extension-style Indian rosewood tailpiece; two Schaller humbucking pickups with black covers and mounting rings; four Indian rosewood control knobs; three-position toggle pickup selector switch; single-ply white edge binding on headstock, pickguard and fingerboard; triple-ply white/black/white edge binding on body top and back; and chrome-plated metal hardware.
Ownership History: Purchased by current owner in 1989. No modifications or repairs since then and none apparent prior. Played regularly through 1992, then stored in original Fender hardshell case majority of time.
Condition: Neck perfectly straight. Internal bracing and kerfing solid as a rock. Flawless finish. Light fret wear. Very minor corrosion on bridge pickup screws and poles - hardly noticeable. All electronics working perfectly. Recently cleaned and polished and restrung with D'Addario Jazz Light Chromes. Warm and fat tone from neck pickup and bluesy bite from bridge pickup. Bottom Line: Looks and plays like new. Excellent condition overall. Original case included with guitar.
