Here’s a 2022 Splawn Quick Rod, 50 watt model w/ EL34s, New/Old and Mid switches. Also has a half-power switch on the back along with the loop master for lower volume playing. Great condition cosmetically and works without issues.
Will ship in the original (double boxed) packaging.
It’s a two channel amp with a great clean channel and a fantastic overdrive channel. Coupled with the loop master, the master volume on this amp is as good as any I’ve heard, including past experience with Friedman, Cameron, Bogner, and Suhr amps.
My other amp is a Bogner Ecstasy, but—as great and as versatile as the Bogner is—I prefer the Splawn’s overdrive channel versus the Ecstasy’s legendary blue channel, which is saying something. I don’t consider the Splawn a super versatile, country-to-classic rock type amp, but it excels at anything from early Van Halen to NWOBHM to early Thrash. It will not disappoint if you’re going for any of those tones. Such a super-aggressive amp!
This is my fifth Quick Rod. The three pre/Heyboer ones get all the hype (I’ve owned one) but these newer Splawns fix everything people have complained about in these amps in the past. This latest quick rod blows all the others I’ve had away.
People have said that Splawns have “weird mids“, not enough saturation, are dry-sounding, and they feel stiff. This one counters all of those criticisms and Scott Splawn must be listening to his customers as he’s putting out his best amps ever. This amp is way more saturated sounding than any of the other quick rods I’ve owned before and that’s with the gain at 11 o’clock on gear one. The mids sit perfectly and the bass punches with a tight percussiveness. I can’t believe the amount of punch and chug this amp has as a 50 watter. It also has a bright clean channel, which is the best I’ve heard to date on a Splawn.
The amp just came back from my tech with a clean bill of health. I would love to keep it, but I listed my Ecstasy (it’s great, but SO much amp) with very little interest, and I also have a Suhr guitar listed here that will hopefully sell instead of the Splawn…but I feel like I have to keep my bases covered.
Please check out my Feedback. I take pride in how I package my amps bulletproof. I also always aim for a quick shipping turnaround.
