g-unit is a compact electro acoustic toolkit that can be used standalone with the internal contact mic and self oscillating filter as sound sources or as an extension for other instruments. it can turn even a toy home keyboard into a crazy full on synthesizer. this is a single channel version made for even greater portability as opposed to the previously available 2 channel dual filter version. it consists of a voltage controlled state variable hp/bp/lp filter with some very useful extras for capturing and shaping new sounds. A built in contact microphone is sent through a discrete transistor instrument preamplifier, and then into a harmonic intermodulating fuzz/overdrive with controls for modulation level, drive, and wet dry mix before it reaches the voltage controlled filter which can split the signal into lowpass, bandpass, and highpass outputs. there is also a self oscillation switch which reroutes the feedback path to make the filter more easily self oscillate for using it as a heavy sub bass sine wave oscillator or for more variation when making hybrid electro acoustic sounds. The mic is a contact mic so it is meant to capture surface vibrations rather than air vibrations, however the gain inside the circuit is high enough that it can be used as microphone for also capturing ambient noises. The internal routing of the unit can be interrupted at any point via the 1/8" jacks on the panel so that the individual modules can be used separately and/or rerouted etc...

This unit will work great with euro rack or a desktop setup. Very experimental!
