About This Listing

1967-68 Aria Diamond or Univox UC-2

Update: 6/18/23 I had it set up properly with a new set of tens and a simple bridge adjustment. The action is much better, fast and low. It plays really nice! It’s on par with the higher quality Japanese guitars of this era and the more contemporary FujiGen guitars like the Ibanez Roadstars and the Yamaha SGV’s and SG-2‘s it really is a hidden gem! When you pick it up to jam it immediately reflects guitars of a much higher price point.

Offset Jazzmaster style made at the Matsumoku factory in Japan. I am a vintage guitar collector and have been buying selling and keeping off beat vintage guitars for 28 years. I have had many Univox guitars like the 1802T and the Hi-Flier. However, I have never had one like this, nor can I find the model anywhere onlone, chances are if you are looking at this guitar, you probably know more than I do about it’s origin and model name/number.

It is identical to the Univox UC-2 as well as other rebadged guitars like the Conrad. It is also a solid build, much heavier than the Hi-Fliers. It has a bound neck, low profile frets, nicer tuners that are a little stiff, will work out with use, maybe use a little light machine oil, the action is really good! The pick ups are bright and sound pretty good! They also have covers like the Mustangs. Super durable 3 ply pick guard, The guitar all in all is in pretty good shape. Has some finish checking, scratches, a chip by the neck joint, please see pics, if you need close ups let me know! there is a also a hole that was drilled on the second horn for left handed playing. The screws on the neck plate are not original. The plastic cover for the output jack on the back is missing as well as the tremolo cover. Guitar plays goodl as is but I would put down copper shielding to quiet it more, also the volume pot might need replacing or sprayed with a little De-oxit.

Please make note, the tremolo has been welded closed, the welds can be filed open or removed. It has been converted to a hard tail and the sustain is exceptionally great! if you want a working tremolo they pop up for sale all the time or just remove the welds, make sure to search for Univox tremolo. If you have any questions at all please contact me, I love my guitars and am more than happy to discuss them with you. It will be carefully packed for a safe arrival. My account here is relatively new, if you search for twolaneblacktop66 on eBay that will reflect 23 years of buying and selling with a feedback rating of 100%. Guitar is selling with everything pictured here, I do not have a case for it. Thank you!

Shipping is a flat rate, it has cost $175 for both guitars that I have shipped this year from Fed Ex. I have had very good luck with them lately, if the shipping is leas than the flat rate I will refund you the difference.
