Vintage 1974 Hagstrom Swede Electric Guitar w/ Hardshell Case!

Up for sale is this vintage 1974 Hagstrom Swede electric guitar.

This guitar is all original and is in fair cosmetic condition for its age. These original Swede's generally have some issues and this one is no different. The original pickup rings are cracked and missing a few pieces and the bridge pickup ring has been poorly repaired. One saddle adjustment screw is broken off. The original inlays have shrunk and several were loose when the instrument came in. Our tech removed them and glued them back down and they are now tight. He also cleaned and oiled the fretboard after the job was complete.

The original cherry finish is still vibrant and red, but there are numerous dings, scratches, and scuffs including some on the back of the neck which can be felt while playing (pictured). The guitar also exhibits quite a bit of buckle wear on the back. There is a crack coming off of the neck pocket which is pictured. While it does appear to run into the wood and not just finish, the neck joint is 100% stable which we tested with quite a bit of pressure and it doesn't move at all.

This one has just been gone over by our tech and plays nicely with comfortable, low action. Our tech did note that there is some twist in the neck even with the truss rod functional. The treble side is straight while there is relief in the bass side. That being said, other than a few buzzy notes (nothing frets out) past the twelfth fret on the bass side, it doesn't affect playability. There is also some room for the action to come up a bit if this bothers you.

A non-original hardshell case is included. The case does show wear and one latch is busted but the case is perfectly sound to protect the instrument for shipping and to take out and gig.

Overall, this is a nice playing example of a cherry finish Swede at a great price and it shouldn't last long...
