About This Listing

This listing features a vintage and original 1966 Epiphone Coronet solid body electric guitar in excellent condition. It plays like butter and the killer "Dog-Eared" P-90 barks just like it should...! It's basically Epiphone's answer to the Gibson Les Paul, Jr., only not as clunky but just as powerful. The width at the nut is 1 9/16". Someone put a sticker where the serial number is and when it was removed it took off the finish. The photos show some typical dings for a 58 year old guitar, but it really is a nice clean guitar with the hardware being in excellent condition. It comes with a hard-shell case that is also in excellent condition.

Product Overview
Don't get it twisted -- this Epiphone Coronet has a solid body, much unlike Epiphone's archtop of the same name. One of the first guitars to be rolled out after Gibson snagged Epiphone, the Coronet snagged a few famous players, like Kurt Cobain and Johnny Marr. Its body shape is pretty unique, but not uncommon for a number of solidbodies released by Epiphone at the time.

The third and final iteration of the original Coronet run saw the Symmetric body replaced by the more familiar Asymmetric design. It also saw a departure from the Gibson-style open book headstock to Epiphone's own "Batwing" 6-in-line headstock design. This later version of the Coronet was also available with a vibrato.
