Vintage Circa 1965 Vox Phantom IV Electric Bass Guitar w/ Spector Gig Bag!

Up for sale is this vintage circa 1965 Vox Phantom IV electric bass guitar.

One of the most recognizable shapes ever produced, the Phantom is about as cool and about as "1960's" as one can get. This particular example is in nice condition for its age and is a great player!

Cosmetically, the instrument shows wear and the deep and long finish checking that these instruments are known for. There are some chips and dings as well, most notably one on the side, one on the end of the headstock, and some finish flaking at the neck pocket, all of which are captured in the photos. The original pickguard shrunk over the years and warped. The previous owned heat-pressed the original pickguard to flatten it out and reinstalled it and the job turned out great, although there will be some extra holes where it didn't quite line up after all of these years. These were prone to extreme shrinkage and this one being intact almost makes it above average. The instrument looks to be all original, right down to the original pat. app. for bridge cover.

The instrument has just been gone over by our tech who installed a fresh set of strings, sprayed out the electronics, and adjusted the truss rod. The bass plays nicely with a large, chunky neck and comfortable, low action. There are a few slightly buzzy areas on the fretboard if you're really heavy-handed, but it hasn't bothered anyone here yet and this one had quickly become a shop favorite.

A non-original Spector gig bag is included to protect the bass during transit. The instrument is slightly longer than the bag (pictured) and will be well-packed to ensure safe shipping.
