We have two guitars recreated for the late great Keith Levene to explore some ideas and see what we could achieve without joining huge long queues for boutique builders. This is one of them.
The brief was to create some specific tones with a short scale with a nod to the simplicity of the Telecaster. More details of how this brief evolved are on our website, but here are the details of this guitar.
A pair of Creamery pick-ups were wound for this guitar. To keep the purity of the look and the specific sound we wanted, a tapped Tele single coil and P90 style neck pick-ups are fitted, the 2 outputs from the bridge pick-up governed by a push push tone pot. A traditional 3-way toggle selects the tones:
Position 1 is the neck P90 on its own
Position 2 is the neck P90 and bridge in parallel (hot output with pot up)
Position 3 is the bridge on its own (hot output with pot up)
The strings are top and tailed with a Gotoh FX6 bridge and SGS510 locking tuners at the other end.
This is a very characterful build - it really put a smile on Keith's face and he nick-named it his "Angry Maserati".
A percentage of this sale will be donated to a charity that Keef would have approved of.
The guitar weighs 3.2kg (7lbs 1oz)
